About us
American Councils for International Education has been working in Turkmenistan since 1993. We provide opportunities for professional development and academic/cultural exchange to citizens of Turkmenistan. In Turkmenistan, we administer the following US Government-sponsored programs:
Future Leaders Exchange Program (FLEX) Future Leaders Exchange Program (FLEX) The Future Leaders Exchange Program (FLEX) provides scholarships to secondary school students to live in an American host family and study in an American high school for one academic year. Secondary school students born between January 1, 1992 and July 15, 1994 all eligible for the Fall 2009 competition. Testing will take place in Ashgabat, Balkanabat, Dashoguz, Mary, Tejen, Turkmenabat, and Turkmenbashi.
Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP) The Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP) provides opportunities for higher education professors and instructors to improve their teaching skills and develop new teaching materials on a semester-long exchange program at a university in the US. Fellows are placed at US universities for one academic semester. Applications for the JFDP program will be due in August 2009.
Community Connections Program (CC) The USAID-sponsored Community Connections (CC) Program provides opportunities for Turkmen professionals to go on short-term specialized training programs in the United States. Community Connections participants travel to the US on three-week specialized internships.

U.S. Central Asia Education Foundation (CAEF) Provides four-year scholarships to study business administration at American University in Central Asia (AUCA) in Bishkek and the Kazakhstan Institute of Management (KIMEP) in Almaty.

Turkmenistan AUCA Scholars Program (TASP) Turkmenistan AUCA Scholars Program (TASP) The Turkmenistan AUCA Scholars Program provides full 4-year scholarships, as well as continuing scholarships, for citizens of Turkmenistan to study at American University of Central Asia in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Applications for the next academic year will be available in October 2008.

American Corners in Mary, Dashoguz, Turkmenabat, and Turkmenbashi The American Corners are free resource centers that provide current information about the United States to the general public. Each Corner offers a library, computer lab, advising center, and activities. The American Corners are open to the general public from 9:30 - 6pm, Monday - Friday.
Advising Center (EAC) in Ashgabat EducationUSA Advising Center (EAC) in Ashgabat The EducationUSA Advising Center (EAC) is a free resource center in Ashgabat where prospective students can learn about educational opportunities in the US. The EAC also features an English language library, test preparation materials, and a computer center.

Official ETS testing American Councils for International Education in Turkmenistan is pleased to offer the paper-based TOEFL, GRE, and SAT tests. Tests are offered 2-5 times a year and a schedule is available at our office. Registration booklets, practice tests, and other materials are also available, upon request.
